Cast and Crew
Scott D. Pafumi
Yvan
Scott is the Theatre Arts Director at Herndon High School. For the last 30 years, he has taught Theatre and Drama in multiple Virginia and Fairfax County Schools. Mr. Pafumi has also taught as an Adjunct Theatre Professor at Northern Virginia Community College. He has served as the past President of the FCPS Theatre Arts Directors Association and is a company member/performer of the professional group, Dark Horse Theatre Company. Mr. Pafumi earned a BA in Theatre and English Literature at Virginia Tech and holds a master’s in Arts Management from George Mason University (2010). He is happily married to another FCPS secondary Theatre teacher and is the proud father to three adult children who all make a living in the arts and education. He enjoys staying actively involved with his church, as well as traveling cross country on motorcycle tours.
Jack Reda
Marc
Jack studied theater at VCU and ODU. He has appeared in The House of Blue Leaves and Schoolhouse Rock for Elden Street Players, and Damn Yankees at the Tidewater Dinner Theater. He has been performing improvised comedy for over 20 years, with ComedySportz (in DC and San Jose), Emmits Boys, and his own troupe DCUP (The District of Columbia Unscripted Players) which his award-winning shows Boneless Chicken Cabaret and The Simons. He has performed with DCUP at festivals in Toronto, San Francisco, Miami, Charleston, Los Angeles, Baltimore, and opened for Emo Philips at the DC ComedyFest. He is the author of Short Form Improv, available on Amazon! Jack enjoys long walks on the beach and eating red meat.
Tice Rust
Serge
Tice is thrilled to be making his debut with Dark Horse Theatre Company. Previously, he has played Kiril in Superior Donuts with Reston Community Players, and has played parts in three murder mystery dinners with Rooftop Productions: Igor in Monster Mash Murders, the Conductor in Murder on the Manassas Express, and Sherlock Holmes in The Curse of Huxley Manor. In addition to acting, he improvises with the Improper Imps of Improv and the Pundemics, and spent many years playing with DC ComedySportz. He is a Spanish teacher at Herndon High School.

Jeff Ward
Bassoon
Jeff is a freelance bassoonist in the Washington, D.C. area. He serves as the Executive Director and Principal Bassoonist of Paragon Philharmonia, a professional chamber orchestra based in Northern Virginia, and plays contrabassoon for both the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra. From 2014 to 2020, he was the Principal Bassoonist of the Tysons McLean Orchestra. His local performance credits include appearances with the Apollo Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, National Philharmonic, Washington Ballet, Wolf Trap Opera, Arlington Philharmonic, Cathedral Choral Society, the United States Air Force Band, and several other groups. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance and Music Education from Ithaca College and a Master of Music in Bassoon Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Katelyn Burton
Stage Manager and Lighting Design/Operator
Katelyn is thrilled to be part of Art with Dark Horse Theatre Company, marking her second production with the company. With a strong passion for lighting design, Katelyn is excited to take on the additional challenge of stage managing for the first time. She brings her dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm to every aspect of her work. Katelyn would like to thank the amazing cast and crew for their support and collaboration throughout this process, and her family for their unwavering support.
Natasha Parnian
Director and Producer
Natasha is a critically acclaimed stage director and performance speaking strategist. She founded Dark Horse Theatre Company in 2009 in Washington D.C. Prior to that she directed numerous plays in the Mid-Atlantic region. She completed her directing apprenticeship in 2006 at the Carolina Actors Studio Theatre (CAST) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Natasha is a protégé of Michael R. Simmons (former student of renowned film director Sidney Lumet), Managing Artistic Director of CAST, and expert aviator. Ms. Parnian is a career-long psychological realism practitioner and leverages this in her work. She is a collaborative and surgical "actor's director", devoted to the process of serving as a midwife to the creative labor of artists. Ms. Parnian is known to build brave, precise, sensitive, finely tuned, inside-out actors via Socratic exploration of the human condition. Outside of the theatre she is a homeschooling mom, a motorcycle enthusiast, and animal lover.
